Join us in September 2017 on the East or West Coast for an afternoon of worship, memories, and celebration of all God has done in the past 25 years through the ministry of For His Children. During this special time we will hear from adoptive families, supporters, and volunteers as they share how FHC has touched their lives. We will also hear a special word from Melinda Vaughn, Executive Director and Co-Founder of For His Children.

During the month of September, For His Children will be holding a special Anniversary Matching Gift Campaign. The funds will be used to purchase a handicap accessible van for our children in wheelchairs, 2 general transportation vans, and for overall operating expenses. Read on to find out more about these needs.

We currently find ourselves in need of three vehicles. We have two outdated vans, one in Quito and in one Latacunga. These vans are used for running errands, taking the children to various doctor’s appointments and other activities, as well as transporting volunteer teams. The vans are in constant need of repair, and with recurring mechanic bills, it is time to purchase two newer, used vans to be used in Quito and Latacunga. We estimate the cost of each van to be $25,000.

We are also in need of a handicap accessible vehicle for our children in wheelchairs. Our current van is not handicap accessible and our staff spend a lot of time lifting the children into the van and then hoisting their wheelchairs onto the top of the van. This is an inefficient and unsafe method that we would like to correct with the purchase of a vehicle specifically designed to seat individuals in wheelchairs. We estimate the cost of this vehicle to be $80,000.

In addition to our transportation needs, operating funds are always needed. Funds that cover food, clothing, medical care, caregiver salaries, and so much more. These funds set the foundation of our work. The remaining funds raised after the vehicle purchase with be used to cover operating expenses.
