Escuela en Casa

One morning in Latacunga, María and Mercedes sat together at a small table, tearing colorful pieces of paper and rolling them into tiny balls. María giggled every time one bounced off the table, and Mercedes laughed right along with her. It was a simple activity, but in that moment, learning felt like play—and María was loving every second of it.

For María, school hasn’t always been easy. Because of her special needs, she sometimes struggled to keep up in a regular classroom. She needed more time, more attention, and lessons made just for her. That’s when our team at FHC decided to create something special: “Escuela en Casa”, a homeschool program designed to give María one-on-one support and a way of learning that fits her perfectly.

Now, each day looks a little different for her. Rolling paper balls becomes a lesson in counting and coordination. Reading a story together turns into an adventure filled with laughter and imagination. And each new word, each proud smile, reminds us how powerful personalized care can be.

Mercedes, one of our caring staff members, received special training so she could be María’s teacher. With patience, creativity, and lots of love, she’s helping María discover that learning can be joyful—and that she is capable of amazing things.

Thanks to your support, Maria’s days are now filled with curiosity, laughter, and confidence. You make it possible for children like her to receive the personalized care they need to grow, learn, and shine in their own beautiful way.
