Just this week, I visited Shirley in Latacunga.The last time I had seen her was in 2020.
As soon as I arrived, Shirley grabbed my hand and excitedly showed me her room. Then her baby dolls. Then she opened her dresser drawers to make sure I saw all of her clothes.
As I watched her excitement, I realized something. What Shirley was really showing me wasn't her room, her dolls, or her clothes. She was showing me that she belongs.
The growth I saw in Shirley was remarkable. The shy little girl I remembered had become confident, joyful, and eager to share her world with others. She was showing me what is possible when a child experiences the love of a permanent family.
But children like Shirley don't thrive by accident.
They need caregivers who know their strengths and challenges. They need educational opportunities that help them learn and grow. They need individualized support that builds confidence and independence. Most of all, they need the love, stability, and security of a permanent family.

In a powerful demonstration of their commitment, board members have already pledged the first $12,500. Now they are inviting friends, family members, churches, and community partners to help provide the remaining $12,500.
