Just this week, I visited Melissa* in Latacunga. The last time I saw her was 2020.
As soon as I arrived, Melissa* grabbed my hand and excitedly showed me her room. Then her baby dolls. Then she opened her dresser drawers to make sure I saw all of her clothes.
As I watched her excitement, I realized something. What Melissa* was really showing me wasn't her room, her dolls, or her clothes. She was showing me that she belongs.
The growth I saw in Melissa* was remarkable. The shy little girl I remembered had become confident, joyful, and eager to share her world with others. She was showing me what is possible when a child experiences the love of a permanent family.
But children like Melissa* don't thrive by accident.
They need caregivers who know their strengths and challenges. They need educational opportunities that help them learn and grow. They need individualized support that builds confidence and independence. Most of all, they need the love, stability, and security of a permanent family.

This month, our Board of Directors is leading a special campaign to raise $25,000 to ensure children like Melissa*continue receiving the care, education, support, and love of a permanent family they need to thrive.
