When Melisa was three, the police and her father brought her to For His Children after signs of severe neglect led to her hospitalization. Her mother has an intellectual disability, and her father was unable to care for her. Malnourished and diagnosed with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, Melisa has since received love and care at FHC. Now 13 and entering adolescence, she needs your help!
You have been a faithful supporter and have impacted Melisa's life over the past 10 years, which is why I wanted to share this urgent need. Melisa needs the continued love and care of a family. She needs opportunities to grow and explore her unique gifts.

A special campaign is underway through June 8th with the goal of raising $45,000 to provide the love of a family and growth opportunities for Melisa and young adults with special needs. Thanks to a generous group of donors, all gifts up to $15,000 will be matched!

It will provide physical and occupational therapy to help her grow stronger, support her as she learns daily skills like dressing and self-care with her caregivers, and give her opportunities to explore activities like gardening, cooking, and painting. We’re still actively advocating for her to be adopted into a forever family, but her developmental challenges require consistent, specialized support.
